Joshua Eisnor, 43, of North Reading, was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and forfeit $900, the amount authorities said he made dealing drugs, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances in June. Eisnor faced up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Investigators said Eisnor sold oxycodone, suboxone, Klonopin, and Adderall to other members of the department while on and off duty from 2017 until 2021, Firehouse.com reported citing court records. It's unclear when Eisnor left the Malden Fire Department or the circumstances surrounding it.
Federal authorities said Eisnor violated the public's trust and put his fellow firefighters in danger.
“As a firefighter, Mr. Eisnor was responsible for the safety and wellbeing of Malden’s residents. His conduct violated this duty by potentially compromising the security and operations of the fire department and putting residents at risk," Rachael Rollins, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, said in a news release. "My office has a zero-tolerance policy for public officials who abuse their positions of trust.”
